Synopsis
The Evaluation Module I: Principles to Practice, a short course offered by CARRS-Q, aims to provide delegates with the fundamental principles and best practices relevant to road safety evaluation. Case studies will be used to demonstrate steps in the design and conduct of evaluations, and delegates are encouraged to bring ideas for evaluations they would like to plan. Delegates will gain a firm understanding of a variety of critical issues involved in designing and conducting a qualitative or quantitative study and the pros and cons of some commonly used research methods. These skills will enable delegates to conduct basic evaluation, select suitable research consultants and assess evaluation reports.
The Evaluation Module II: Foundations of Data Analysis, a short course offered by CARRS-Q, aims to provide delegates with a firm understanding of the theory underlying research design, data collection and data analysis methods for both qualitative and quantitative data. Delegates with an existing understanding of quantitative analysis will have the opportunity to practice different analytical techniques. This course will help delegates conduct a simple but statistically or qualitatively rigorous evaluation, select better research consultants and assess the quality of evaluation reports.
Delegates may elect to undertake one or two modules. Completion of both modules, plus the successful completion of formal assessment, will enable participants to receive credit towards QUT's Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Road Safety.
